Hands-On Learning
Federico Patellani was one of Italy’s first photojournalists, and MUNAF keeps more than 700,000 of his images. The challenge was to open that archive to visitors aged 10 to 14. The answer is a small system built around one character: a camera mascot in pen and ink that hands out a composition keychain at the ticket desk, points the way on signs, and hosts two touch-screen games about Patellani’s travels and the cameras of the past.

Case study
Patellani globe
Drag the ink-drawn globe and tap the red pins at the real locations of Patellani’s reportages, from Ethiopia to Russia to Morocco. He introduces himself in his own words, and every journey you visit earns a postmark stamp.
Playable prototype — click and drag as you would on the museum’s touch screen. Archive photos load from MUNAF’s online collection, and the same build could go straight into the virtual museum section of MUNAF’s website.
Camera Assembly
Four cameras from the 1940s to the 2000s start as shadows. Pick one, drag its parts into place over the pencil plan, and unlock a photograph from its decade for your collection.
